Denny received a degree in Architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan. As a student, Denny worked with general contractors, learning to build from the ground up, understanding what it means to be on-time, cost-effective, and skilled in the trades.
After relocating to Marin in 1972, he began what is now Kasten Builders. Known among the industry’s elite, Denny has built homes throughout Marin, Sonoma, Napa counties and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 40 years in the construction industry his knowledge, experience, and passion for working with people is credit to his long term success.
Pete has been part of Kasten Builders for over 20 years. Starting with a shovel in hand at the age of 15, Pete learned the construction trade from the ground up. After hurting his back in the field in 2004 he started doing estimating for the company and has not looked back. Pete now handles project management and most enjoys improving the quality of life of his clients through the projects he oversees. Pete lives in San Rafael with his son Ryder and their dog Buddy. In his free time, Pete can be found with family, out playing golf, mountain biking, or working out.
Kevin has been a valued member of Kasten Builders since 2013. He brings with him roughly 15 years of experience from both the residential and commercial fields and a B.S. degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from San Jose State University. From preconstruction through the final punch list, clients and design professionals appreciate Kevin’s communication, attention to detail, and honesty. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys outings with his family and is always eager to improve his golf game.
Before coming on board with Kasten Builders, Paul worked 3 years as Senior Project Manager for a very well known movie producer managing multiple high-end residential estates. Prior to that, Paul was Senior Project Manager with Blu Homes West Coast helping them with the design/construction of high-end modular homes. Paul grew up in the Lake Tahoe area where he founded Truckee Tahoe Homes, a high-end design-build firm. Paul attended the Phoenix Institute of Technology where he studied Architectural drafting and design. Paul is also proficient in Spanish.
Ali began working part-time with Kasten Builders in 2016 and transitioned to full-time in June 2020 after graduating from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. Ali provides assistance to controller Valerie Boggs and chief estimator Kevin Smoker and works closely with the field personnel. She approaches every project with enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and inherent intuitiveness. Her cheerful and outgoing nature make her a delightful member of our team. In her spare time, Ali likes to go on walks at the beach with her bulldog Emma, draw, and hang out with her family.
Barb joined Kasten Builders in late 2020 with vast experience in administration, organization, design, construction, and project and financial management. Her multidisciplinary background also includes a BA in Anthropology and Museum Studies and a MA in Art History. She is well-versed in strategically balancing complex and competing projects, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism and a fun spirit. Barb has been fascinated by dogs for as long as she can remember; she writes professionally on canine-related topics and continues her studies and research in animal behavior and health, especially those of her own two dogs, Tico and Parker.
Juan joined the Kasten Builders team in 2006 and has proven to be a very skilled foreman. His attention to detail ensures that a job is well done and he takes pride in helping homeowners make their dreams come true. When not enjoying his favorite sushi meal he can usually be found on the soccer field.
Alberto joined Kasten Builders in 2008 and has played a key role in many of our projects. His many years of experience and ability to propose alternative solutions to sometimes complex challenges are exceptional. Away from work he loves to play the piano and is considered quite the chef.
Steve, aka SteveO, grew up in Port Clinton, OH, a small town on Lake Erie. He attended Ohio State where he achieved a degree in turn grass management and worked as a golf course superintendent for 15 years, followed by a career transition to the construction industry. Steve joined Kasten Builders after relocating from Davis, CA where he worked as a Project Manager and Lead Carpenter for a custom home builder. During that time, Steve took courses in Construction Management at San Francisco Community College. When not enjoying time with his wife and young daughter, Steve is an avid hiker and skier and has even been known to bust a move or two on roller skates.
